The Archaeological Site of the Tombs of the Kings is one of Paphos' most striking landmarks, part of the Unesco World Heritage listing of Paphos. Despite the name, no royals were buried here; the title reflects the grandeur of the monumental tombs, carved directly into solid rock over 2,000 years ago. Visitors descend into spacious underground chambers, some framed by imposing stone columns and atrium courtyards, and can wander freely from tomb to tomb at their own pace.
The open, well-maintained grounds sit above the coastline, offering sweeping sea views and a relaxed, atmospheric setting far from flashy modern attractions. Metal walkways help visitors take in vantage points overlooking the city and shore. Open daily from 08:30 to 19:30 with very affordable admission, it's easy to reach near Paphos harbour.
Come prepared with sturdy shoes, sun protection and water, as the site involves plenty of walking, steep and uneven steps, and little shade. A basic toilet is available at the entrance, but there are no refreshments on site.
